Why fight against so formidable an enemy?

On December 13th, 2003, Sara Ann Smart lost her third battle with throat cancer. That she had suffered from cervical cancer in 1979 shows the persistence of this deadly disease. So that others may not have to endure what Sara and R.J. Godlewski had gone through, the novelist/author decided that enough was enough and wanted to embark upon a project to seek cures for this horrible disease that manifests itself with so many different variants. Cancer is cancer and it must be defeated.
Because to surrender will only lead to far more deaths.

Knowing that most traditional pharmaceutical originate within the first three inches of the soil, R.J. Godlewski began to wonder about the first three miles of the ocean depths and what might be found there if we were only to look for it. Drawing upon his ingenuity, respect for the diversity of the seas, and a profound love for his departed Sara, Godlewski decided that the effort was worth a life dedicated to searching the seas for organisms of pharmaceutical value.

By developing a fleet of ocean-going pharmaceutical and industrial chemical research laboratories, R.J. Godlewski hopes to be able to locate, evaluate, and produce compounds which show promise for battling cancer and other diseases. These compounds will be shipped stateside where they will be evaluated for merit by his Oceanic Biotech Corporation business and should they prove to be promising, licensed out to other medical companies for development.
